The Pan-African Gaming Taxation & Revenue Summit (PAGTR) 2026 has been officially moved to September 9–10, 2026. It will now take place at the Grand Palm Hotel Casino & Convention Resort in Gaborone.
The change in dates has been effected to better align with GRAF Conference 2026 that is scheduled to take place in Mozambique from 14–17 September 2026.
Organisers say the move is designed to create a more cohesive industry calendar. This should allow stakeholders travelling from across Africa and beyond to conveniently attend both events.
PAGTR 2026 will be held under the theme “Shaping Smart Tax Policy for a Sustainable Gaming Economy” and is expected to deliver actionable insights, promote cross-border cooperation and contribute to shaping the future of gaming taxation across African markets.
Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, says the summit plays a critical role in aligning stakeholders across the ecosystem:
“From an Alliance perspective, the importance of this symposium lies in fostering coordinated engagement on taxation and regulation. Alignment across stakeholders enables more informed decision-making, supports sustainable tax frameworks, and ultimately strengthens channelisation and market integrity.”
Industry leaders have also welcomed the improved coordination between major events on the continent. Moruntshi Kemorwale, Acting CEO of the Botswana Gambling Authority, emphasized the importance of collaboration:
“As an industry, we are strongest when we work together. Greater coordination across our event calendar allows stakeholders from across the continent and beyond to engage more fully, strengthening relationships and ensuring that important conversations continue across multiple platforms.”
PAGTR organisers reiterated that the summit will continue to focus on strengthening connections across Africa’s gaming ecosystem, bringing together regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders to drive meaningful conversations around taxation and regulatory frameworks.
